Newnham Councillors John Mingay and Kristy Adams have used their Council Ward Funds to address road safety concerns in Queen Alexandria Road and Phillpotts Avenue.
Residents in these roads have become increasingly worried about vehicles parking at the end of the street on the junction with Goldington Road, thus hindering road users’ and pedestrians’ vision of turning traffic.
Cllr Mingay and Cllr Adams have since taken action by using their Ward Funds for double yellow lines to be painted at the junctions to prevent dangerous parking.
Cllr Mingay said:
‘The parking situation on Queen Alexandria Road and Phillpotts Avenue was an accident waiting to happen and residents were rightly concerned. The double yellow lines solution should be effective going forwards and I have written to residents in Denmark Street, Dudley Street and George Street to see if similar problems in those areas could also be resolved in the same way.’
