Cllr Anthony Boutall

Cllr Anthony Boutall became a member of Bedford Borough Council in May 2015 and is one of two Councillors representing the ward of Kempston Central & East. He was brought up and educated in Kempston and he and his family have deep roots within the town in terms of local businesses, clubs, musical groups, churches and schools.

Anthony sits on the Council’s Budget Scrutiny Committee and is a member of the Corporate Services Scrutiny Committee where he has called for public scrutiny of the Council’s dealings with the Saxon Centre. Anthony’s other local priorities for Kempston include securing a more equitable share of Borough funds for repairing and maintaining some of its neglected roads and pavements and pushing for solutions to ease traffic congestion in the area.

Anthony is very proud to represent the area within which he grew up and his overarching aim is to look back in 2019 and know that Kempston’s lot is better and its residents happier with their local representation than was the case in May 2015.

In addition to his work as a Councillor, Anthony is a teacher. He still tries to get the saxophone out as much as possible and has performed jazz numbers on a boat at the Bedford River Festival.
