Cllr Roger Rigby has written to the Bedfordshire on Sunday outlining his dissatisfaction with the current state of Bedford Bus Station’s interior.
His letter reads as follows:
Having visited Bedford’s Bus Station last week I found the external building to be an improvement on the drab and dreary offering of the former structure.
I understand very clearly, however, the poor regard your readers have for the Bus Station’s interior. It feels austere and un-cared for as the massive stains on the floor show. It is just not a pleasant place inside and has the appearance of a transport outpost in the 1960s Soviet Union.
The Bus Station is not a welcoming hub for visitors, nor is it a showpiece for the town. I have to give the Mayor 2/10 for the development and wonder whether he would like to use it given his preference for bus travel, or so his recent photo call would have us believe.
