Wilshamstead Ward

Graeme Coombes has represented Wilshamstead Ward, covering the historic village of Wilstead and the new development of Wixams, since 2011. He is also Leader of the Conservative Group.

Since his election in 2011, Graeme has fought the Liberal Democrat Mayor's plan for a landfill site to be situated right next to Wixams, demanded improved broadband speeds in the locality and called for easier access to basic GP healthcare services for the residents of Wixams and Wilstead. He chairs the Council's Health Committee, which is responsible for scrutinising local NHS services, and also sits on the Environment & Sustainable Communities Committee and the Wixams Joint Development Control Committee.

In his day job, Graeme works in the conference and events industry.

Graeme says: 'Wixams is a new, growing and dynamic place to be, with a vibrant and diverse group of residents. Wilstead is a beautiful, historic village with many longstanding inhabitants who have kept a real village feel to the area despite the big changes happening nearby. It is a great honour for me to represent the area I live in.'
